Lower Calorie Tips

Don't use artificial sweeteners in your baking.  Most sweeteners lose their sweet taste in the oven.  Stick to real Imperial Sugar or Dixie Crystals Sugar.

Replace eggs with frozen egg substitute.  The substitute has less calories and it is better for your heart.

Make cookies smaller.  If your children are accustomed to having 3 cookies for a snack, they can still have 3 cookies, but they will be getting fewer calories.

Use calorie-reduced and low fat items whenever possible.  In most cases, a calorie reduced item also has lower fat and a low fat item also reduces calories.

Find recipes that use fruits, which provide natural sweetness and fiber.

Memories & Stories

Dear Imperial Sugar Company,
My memories of learning to cook: I was about 10 years old and I made cookies with my mother. We made Old Fashioned Tea Cakes and that was in 1949. I had many more wonderful times in the kitchen with her. She passed away in 1999. She taught me a lot about cooking and I still enjoy cooking.

Thanks,
June Shewmaker
