Sugar Cube Easter Cross
How to Make a Sugar Cube Easter Cross

Making an Easter cross of sugar cubes emulates beautiful crosses made of smooth white marble. This meaningful decoration is just the right size for little hands to make (and eat)!

  • 26 Dixie Crystals Sugar Cubes
  • Edible glue (white can frosting, corn starch paste, or royal icing will all work)

  1. Determine which edible glue you will use. Can frosting is easiest, but takes the longest to dry. Cornstarch paste is 1 tablespoon cold water to 1 tablespoon cornstarch. Sticks well, but not as tasty as icing.
  2. Attach 12 cubes in a 4x3 square with edible glue. This will be the base of the cross. Be sure to use the edible glue to attach all touching sides to add strength to your base.
  3. Set aside and let dry for about 15 minutes. If you are in a hurry, you can place the base in the refrigerator to help the edible glue harden faster.
  4. Take 12 cubes and attach in two columns (2X6). This is the length of your cross.
  5. Take the remaining four cubes and attach them to each side of the row with edible glue so that a cross is formed. Set aside to dry for approximately 15 minutes.
  6. Once the cross has set, attach it to the middle of the base with edible glue.

  1. Use Elmer’s glue or a glue stick if you want the cross to last for a few months and do not plan to eat it. Using glue will make the cross inedible.
  2. Ribbon, silk flowers or other crafts can be attached to the cross for decoration.
