If you're not a ginger fan, you can use vanilla and or cinnamon and get equally delicious results. This jam is made with reduced sugar content so it should be keep refrigerated.

INGREDIENTS

DIRECTIONS

  1. Place sugar in a saucepan large enough to hold pears.
  2. Peel pears and cut in quarters. Remove core and cut each quarter in 4 lengthwise slices. Cut crosswise to obtain cubes.
  3. Mix with sugar and place in refrigerator for 8 hours or overnight.
  4. Place on stove and bring to a boil while stirring with a firm whisk or heat resistant spatula.
  5. Once boiling turn to medium high to ensure that mixture boils in a steady pace.
  6. In just about 8-10 minutes jam will thicken and remove from heat.
  7. Pour in a jar and keep refrigerated.
