Crispy, crunchy, bubbly, fruity and oh so good, this Apple Crunch recipe comes from one of our vintage cookbooks, Alice in Brown Sugarland. This super easy recipe is similar to an apple crisp and with only 8 ingredients, comes together in a snap. Serve warm and top with vanilla ice cream for a special treat.

*Spoon & Sweep method: Use a spoon to fill measuring cup with flour until required amount is obtained. Scooping measuring cup directly into flour bag will firmly pack flour resulting in too much flour required for recipe.


  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. Place apples in shallow, greased baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle with cinnamon, nutmeg and granulated sugar. Pour water over sprinkled apples.
  4. Combine brown sugar and flour together in separate bowl. Finely cut in butter until the mixture is crumbly. 
  5. Spread mixture over apples. 
  6. Bake at 400°F for 20 minutes, then reduce heat to 350°F and bake another 25 minutes. 
  7. Let cool slightly and cut into squares for serving.
