Bulgogi Turkey Burgers with Asian Pear Slaw

  • 1 1/4 pounds ground turkey
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili sauce) or Chinese chili sauce
  • 1/3 cup peeled and grated Asian pear or sweet apple
  • 1/4 cup sliced green onion
  • Asian Pear Slaw
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Dixie Crystals Extra Fine Granulated Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 cup prepared coleslaw mix with carrots
  • 1/2 cup peeled Asian pear (or sweet apple), cut into matchstick pieces
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • Gochujang Mayo
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 teaspoon Dixie Crystals Extra Fine Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili sauce) or Chinese chili sauce
  • 4 sesame hamburger buns, split and lightly toasted


      1. In large bowl, mix together ground turkey, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic and chili sauce.
      2. Add Asian pear (or apple) and green onion until combined.
      3. Divide mixture into 4 equal patties. Set aside.
      4. Prepare Asian Pear Slaw. In medium bowl, whisk together lime juice, rice vinegar, sugar and sesame oil.
      5. Add coleslaw mix, Asian pear (or apple) and cilantro; tossing to mix. Set aside.
      6. Prepare Gochujang Mayo. In small bowl, combine mayonnaise, sugar and chili sauce; set aside.
      7. Preheat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Cook burgers until fully cooked throughout, about 7 minutes per side.
      8. To serve, spread cut sides of buns with Gochujang Mayo, add burger and top with Asian Pear Slaw.
